Vivo Y30 price Philippines Review: Stay Away From This One

The Vivo Y30 is a budget smartphone from the Chinese phone maker Vivo. The handset first debuted in the Philippines in September 2020. In this review, we will go into detail about Vivo Y30 price Philippines and specifications. Let’s see if this phone is a decent pick under PHP 10,000. We also introduce a few more very good picks in the sub-PHP 10k here if you want to check out.

Vivo Y30 price Philippines

As mentioned, the Vivo Y30 launched in the Philippines in September 2020. The Vivo Y30 price Philippines was PHP 9,999, but has recently dropped to PHP 8,999.

Vivo Y30 review: Design & Display

The first impression when holding the Vivo Y30 is that this phone has a modern look. The back of the device is made of plastic. During my time with the phone, I noticed that its back was prone to fingerprints and smudges, so you need to regularly clean it.

Vivo is pretty good at making attractive smartphones.

The size of the Vivo Y30 is also quite large, so it was a bit uncomfortable when putting the phone inside my pocket. So I often put this phone in my backpack and sometimes still miss a few calls or texts.

Back to the front, Vivo Y30 owns a large 6.47-inch display with HD+ (1,560 x 720) resolution. The screen brightness is decent and sufficient to use outdoors. Due to the HD+ resolution, the display isn’t that sharp and not ideal for watching videos or movies.

Vivo Y30 review: Performance

In this regard, the Vivo Y30 features a MediaTek MT6765 chipset, along with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. Going by the Vivo Y30 price in the Philippines, I would say this is a very bad move from Vivo. There are a ton of way more powerful smartphones in the segment such as Realme 7i, POCO M3, Redmi Note 10, and much more. Therefore, if performance is your priority, skip this phone straight away.

For day-to-day tasks, the phone still handles them pretty well with hardly any issue. Along with 4GB RAM, you can still comfortably multitask and switch between apps with occasional lags and stutters. The chipset is paired with a PowerVR GE8320 GPU, which isn’t ideal for gaming. It is still good if you play basic games. When it comes to demanding games like PUBG Mobile or Asphalt 9, you better off search for other smartphones. During my review, the handset could still run those games at low graphics settings, but there were still lags, which heavily affected the gaming experience.

Overall, Vivo has disappointed us with the selection of the chipset. For the same price, there are plenty of other options that far exceed the Vivo Y30 in terms of performance.

Vivo Y30 review: Cameras

Rear cameras

  • 13 MP main camera with f/2.2 aperture and PDAF
  • 8 MP ultra-wide camera with f/2.2 aperture
  • 2 MP macro camera with f/2.4 aperture
  • 2 MP depth sensing camera with f/2.4 aperture

Front camera:

  • 8 MP selfie camera

Yes, the Vivo Y30 features a quad-camera setup, but that doesn’t mean it will deliver good results. We were surprised about the fact that we got different outcomes of the same scene taken just seconds. And none of the photos didn’t look great either. The 13MP main camera is not too bad, but the 8MP ultra-wide camera failed to do its job. The pictures looked pale and lacked details. The 2MP macro camera was also pretty bad and the macro shots looked not as good as that of other phones.

Vivo Y30 cameras

It got much worse in low-light conditions. The amount of detail dropped significantly and there was lots of noise in the photos as well. To sum up, Vivo Y30 mobile price Philippines is a bit too high when considering what it offers.

Vivo Y30 review: Battery

The only good thing about the Vivo Y30 is its beefy 5,000 mAh battery as it could fuel the phone for quite a long time. Even then, I was very disappointed when finding out that the phone only supported 10W charging while the competition is already at 18W or even 33W fast charging support.

Vivo Y30 price Philippines & Specifications: Conclusion

I would say the only two good things about this phone are its design and battery. To recall, the Vivo Y30 price Philippines is PHP 8,999. In comparison, the Redmi Note 9, which also launched late last year, features a 6.53” FHD+ display, Helio G85 chipset, 48MP quad rear cameras, 5,020 mAh battery with 18W fast charging, and more.

You can also consider the Redmi Note 10, priced at PHP 9,990, offers a lot more for just an extra PHP 1,000. The handset comes packed with a 6.43” Super AMOLED display with FHD+ resolution, Android 11-based MIUI 12, Snapdragon 678 SoC, 5,000mAh battery with 33W fast charging support, and a 48MP quad-rear camera setup. So, what is your thought of Vivo Y30 price Philippines specs?
