Huawei brings to customers both powerful high-end phones and budget-friendly ones. Of course, there are compromises. Yet, what you can do on a high-end Android phone, you can also do on a Huawei Nova 2i. Continue reading our review to find out Huawei Nova 2i specs and price Philippines.
Huawei Nova 2i Price Philippines
Huawei released the Nova 2i on September 30, 2017. Huawei Nova 2i price in Philippines was P14,990.
Huawei Nova 2i Specs
Huawei Nova 2i Design & Build
The front of the phone has a slim bezel display with an aspect ratio of 18:0, similar to that of many high-end phones. As a result, despit its 5.9-inch size, the device is still slim, just on par with the traditional 16:0 5.5-inch screen. The bezels are quite thin, especially the top and the bottom. However, the bezels around the two sides are still relatively thick.
The design of the Nova 2i shares many similarities with the Apple iPhone 6 Plus or 6s Plus. However, there is a point on the front of the phone that isn’t as smooth. It is the small plastic strip running around the screen and the metal frame, making the display not as seamless as the Apple products. But that is a very small downside. Between different color versions, the black and blue versions have the black front part, making the two sides look thicker.
The back of the phone is made of metal so it feels solid and sturdy. The design is quite similar to the Galaxy J phones like the J7 Prime or J7 Plus. The surface is smooth. The corners are cerved and connected with the front.
You will find on the back the dual camera cluster, a fingerprint sensor and a LED flash. The dual camera module protrudes significantly even though there is no optical image stabilization (OIS).
Huawei Nova 2i Display
The Huawei Nova 2i comes with an IPS Full HD+ panel with a resolution of 2160 x 1080 and a pixel density of 407 PPI. That is a lot more than what you will find on most other low- to mid-price phones.
Huawei Nova 2i Camera
Next in the review is the camera. The Nova 2i has the Honor 7X’s rear camera and the Honor 9 Lite’s front camera. In total, it has four cameras, a 16MP + 2MP camera module at the back and a 13MP + 2MP camera arrangement at the front. Both have a single LED flash.
It’s more common to find dual-cameras at the back than at the front. If you are into selfies, a 13MP camera is quite decent. In low-light shots, the front flash and 1.75um pixels do help. There is also a Beauty mode and a collection of fun effects and stickers to pump up your selfies.
For its price, the dual-camera at the back of the smartphone delivers the best performance when in good light with sharp images. There is not much of a difference with HDR on or off.
The camera app is pretty decent. You have several modes like Portrait, moving picture, Pro Photo, Wide Aperture, Time-Lapse, and Slow-mo. The smartphone can record videos up to 1080p but video stabilization isn’t available.
Huawei Nova 2i Performance
The smartphone uses the same 16nm octa-core Kirin 659 processor clocked at 2.36GHz found in the Honor 9 Lite, Honor 7X, and P Smart with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. While the Honor 9 Lite and the P Smart only come with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage, both these devices outperform the Nova 2i.
Performance can’t compare to that of a flagship device, but it is enough for most users. It is on par with the similarly priced Moto G6. You can browse the web and social media platforms, watch movies, and play casual games with the phone. If you are into gaming, check out our list for the best gaming phone 2020 Philippines below 10K.
Huawei Nova 2i Battery Life
The battery life of the device isn’t bad but it won’t last you more than a day like it is advertised. A Geekbench 4 test shows that the Huawei Nova 2i lasts 6 hours 52 minutes. Unlike the Honor 9 Lite, the smartphone doesn’t support NFC. But it does have most other connectivity options like GPS, WiFi, and Bluetooth 4.2.
