Unlike other phones in the V9 series, the Y95 comes with a tiny waterdrop notch in the front, adding some zing to its look and feel. Most of the bezels around the screen are slim, except for the part at the bottom.
Similar to other affordable Vivo phones launched in 2019, the Y95 has a glassy finish while the phone is essentially made of plastic. The gradient pattern on its back is what differentiates the device from its other siblings. People who like a glossy and shimmery back panel will like the Nebula Purple variant while those with sober taste would be more likely to choose the Starry Black option.
The side edges of the phone are curvy, making it comfortable to hold. The rear panel attracts finger prints but isn’t slippery. On the back is a readily-accessible fingerprint sensor. The SIM tray offers a separate card slot. At the bottom are the mono speaker grill, the audio jack, and a regular USB port.

Out of the box, the Y95 runs Android 8.1 Orea with Funtouch OS on top. The interface is similar to Apple iOS. It is well optimized and feature rich. The Vivo Y95 doesn’t come with DRM L1 certificate for HD content streaming on Amazon Prime and Netflix.

The Y95 camera is similar to that of the Vivo V9 Pro. On the back is a dual camera setup with a primary 13MP camera with an aperture of f/2.2 and a basic 2MP depth sensor. On the front is a 20MP selfie camera. The phone’s camera app offers numerous shooting modes and features.
The camera’s overall quality is just average. When used outside with proper light, the camera locks focus quickly, set the right exposure and manages to capture ample details.
There isn’t much to write about for the lowlight performance. And the portrait mode is a miss most of the time.

The Vivo Y95 is basically the V9 Pro’s trimmed-down version. It offers users a trendy design, a dedicated card slot, and a long-lasting battery. While its performance isn’t the best, it should be enough for elementary users, even when used in the long run.
