Huawei Y6 Pro Design and Build

Basically, the Huawei Y6 Pro is the Y6 2018’s successor. It comes with design improvements including the Dewdrop screen. It is a tiny notch located on the top of the display. The bezels around the device are a bit thick but nothing too serious.

The notch houses an 8MP selfie camera. In the bezel, we have the sensors, earpiece, LED for notifications, and LED flash. The Huawei branding is located at the bottom.

The body of the Huawei Y6 Pro 2019 is mostly plastic but it still has a decent heft.

On the left is a microSD card and the dual nano SIM cards, for those who need to expand the storage. The power/lock button and the volume rocker are on the right. Even though they are plastic, they are firm and clicky.

On the top of the screen are the secondary microphone and the 3.5mm audio port. On the bottom are the loudspeaker, the microUSB port, and the main microphone.

Coming to the back of the phone, we have the camera module with a 13MP camera and a LED flash and the Huawei branding.

The body of the Huawei Y6 Pro 2019 is mostly plastic but it still has a decent heft. Its curved back panel blends almost seamlessly to the rounded frames. It still manages to feel thin and easy to hold despite its 8.0m thickness.

Considering the used materials, premium isn’t the word to descibe the phone. The back panel is made using clear and glossy plastic to mimick the look and feel of glass. Underrneath is fine particles to reflect light.

Huawei Y6 Pro Display and Multimedia

The phone sports a 6.09-inch display with HD+ resolution. Even though it isn’t pixel packes at 282ppi, it is good enough for browsing social media or gaming. However, it is limiting for watching videos.

Color reproduction is good even though the blacks aren’t deep enough, especially if you have used an AMOLED screen. The viewing angles are decent, and the display is bright enough to use outdoors. If you don’t like the the notch, you can hide it in the settings.

The speaker is loud and crips. While the quality isn’t the best and doesn’t have bass, it is enough to fill a small room for gaming and videos.

Huawei Y6 Pro Camera

Next in the review is the camera. The Y6 Pro comes with a 13MP AF primary camera on the back with an aperture of f/1.8. On the front is an 8MP selfie camera. The smartphone offers limited features including HDR, Beauty, Pro Mode, and Panorama.

Despite that, the photos come out sharp, highly detailed and punchy, especially for those photos taken in bright conditions. On the other hand, the photos produced by the front are decent. Autofocus isn’t available but there is face tracking.

The weakness lies in the low-light condition. The photos come out with lots of noise and look muddy. With the front-facing LED flash, the selfies look fine.

In terms of video recording, the smartphones can record 1080p videos at 30fps. The cors have decent details with good colour but lacks dynamic range. No video stabilization is offered though.
